Available traceability technology

To aid in the traceability of cervid animals, Agri-Traçabilité Québec suggests several tools, compatible with RFID tags, in order to make things easier for producers and other industry stakeholders.

A tool trio, composed of a RFID stick reader, "status" tags (pre-programmed electronic tags) and the free FormCLIC declaration software, allows the various declaration forms to be completed rapidly and the data transferred by e-mail to ATQ. The use of these tools in the identification and traceability process will eliminate much paperwork and transcription errors.

Role of the tools

Each component of the Automated Trio plays an important role:

The RFID reader allows the easy reading of the animal's ear tag;
The pre-programmed status tags facilitate declarations. For example, chips representing dates or animal gender can be used when installing ear tags;
FormCLIC allows the transfer of animal tag numbers and information contained in the pre-programmed status tags.

ATQ created FormCLIC, a software package, to allow you to make your declarations quickly and easily. In addition to being compatible with most RFID stick readers; this easy-to-use tool makes it possible for you to send your traceability declarations by e-mail.
